Before the kid from Akron began setting the hardwood ablaze for Cleveland, the greatest Cavaliers era had been under the ownership of Mr. Gordon Gund.
Coming off some of the franchise’s most disappointing years, Gund purchased the team from Ted Stepien in 1983 and executed a complete overhaul. After the removal of the team’s swashbuckling swordsman in favor of a more modern Cavs logo, and more than nine coaches later, the Cavs came together to make the playoffs in 10 of 15 seasons.
